Digital Strategy Consulting

Clarity on where your digital investment should go

Technical consulting from somebody who builds this for a living — code and architecture audits, vendor and proposal review, and an honest answer on whether to build or buy.

What we do

Digital strategy consulting for decisions worth getting right

The decision usually gets made under pressure

A competitor launches something. A salesperson pitches a platform. The board asks what the plan is. And a decision worth several hundred thousand rand gets made on a proposal nobody in the room is qualified to assess.

That is what this service is for. You are buying technical judgement — twelve years of building the things being proposed — applied to a specific question, before the money is committed.

What people actually ask for

A code audit on something they inherited or paid for, and an honest view on whether it is worth continuing. An architecture review before a platform gets built the wrong way round. A second opinion on a proposal from another agency — what it does not say, and what the quote implies about how it will go.

Or build versus buy, which is the most common of all. Whether an off-the-shelf platform will do the job, or whether the workarounds it forces will cost more over three years than building the thing properly. That answer depends on specifics, and it is worth an afternoon of somebody’s time to get it right.

Where the audit covers application security, we assess against the OWASP guidance rather than a private checklist — so the findings are something your own developers can verify.

What you are not buying

A slide deck. A marketing plan. A recommendation that happens to conclude you should hire us for a large build. The engagement is independent, and the most common outcome is a shorter list of things worth doing than the one you started with.

Most expensive software decisions are made by people with no way to judge the answer they were given.

2

Technical audit

The existing systems, code, architecture and tooling assessed against what they are being asked to do.

Common questions

Digital strategy consulting questions answered

What people ask before booking a session.

No. The engagement is independent, and you own the recommendation outright.

You might use us for all of it, some of it, or none of it. Plenty of clients take the document to their existing developers, and that is a perfectly good outcome — our job is to give you a plan you can act on, not to generate work for ourselves.

It also keeps the advice honest. A recommendation that always concludes with a large build is not advice.
